Tiny baby forges adorable cross-species alliance with friendly corgi

Babies have a busy life. Many struggle with packed schedules of taking naps, watching TV, spitting up, and pushing things — including themselves— over. But babies also have important jobs as ambassadors of cuteness, so they frequently find a way to carve out some quality time for cross-species friendships.
The results are dependably adorable. Instagram user @ayako_0426 posts photos of a two-year-old Pembroke Welsh corgi and her friend, a smiley little baby. The two, it’s clear, are simply love with one another. And they do all the things best friends do: spoon each other, nap next to each other, and sometimes even smooch.
It’s a low-drama, silly, sweet friendship, the kind of relationship even adult humans aspire to. Check their beautiful little life together, below.

Voter Is Tinder For Politics

As we approach election season the average person is probably confused by the plethora of candidates. Should you vote Trump? Hillary? Dr. Fantasmus the Libertarian Cyborg? Voter can probably tell you.
This app is basically a swipe left/swipe right interface for political leanings. It asks you questions about policy and then recommends a candidate based on who you should vote for. Do you support gun control? Dance classes in public schools? There’s probably a candidate for you.
Ultimately, said founder Hunter Scarborough, the system will allow users to submit their own votes to aggregated polls, a feature that will allow for more interesting and precise information for voters and politicians.

The service has 24,000 users and the company is raising capital.

“The platform we developed only recently became possible. Thanks to new open data initiatives, we now have access to up-to-the-minute political data,” said Scarborough. “This allows us to take an unbiased numbers-based approach that other political tools lack. To ensure the highest level of accuracy, we hold politicians accountable to their actions, analyzing candidates’ voting records, public agenda, personal views, speeches, and more.”

Voter is aimed at millennials who are political active. It’s basically a way to get up to speed on various candidates in a few seconds, a valuable proposition in this era of always-on news.
“Voter gives you a fast and fun way to become reliably politically informed,” said Scarborough. Sadly swiping left or right on a particular candidate doesn’t get you a date with them, although Trogdor the Undestroyable, mayoral candidate for the Darkest Core of Deathton (near Scranton) might be a cool dude to hang out with over a beer.

Google Will Reward Map Reviewers with 1TB of Free Drive Storage

Google has brought into play an update for its local guide maps which would reward people who regularly review, upload photos and add information about the businesses. Google has devised the reward program in such a way that reviewers are assigned levels according to which they will be rewarded.

Google_Maps
If the guides reach level two they will get early access to new Google products whilst the level three folks will get a badge next to their name, indicating a trusted reviewer. The level 4 is the stage at which you will be able to rake the jackpot in the form of 1TB drive storage for free, mind you this storage actually costs $9.99 per month.

Google has been pushing the Local Guides program aggressively as it intends to fortify its local maps database in order to strengthen its position in the mapping app category. Although Google Maps has some worthy competitors it does have an edge over others due to its extensively harvested local database and the listing of businesses.
HERE Maps for instance is arguably a better map for navigation but it falls short when it comes to listing local places. Google wants to fill in this void and real life rewards for the guides will definitely act as a carrot at the end of the stick and hopefully will help Google strengthen their localized database.

The Local Guides program is open for all and you can sign up for the same here.Guides who make it to level five will be allowed to attend the first local guide summit once they garner 500 points. Google has not detailed the summit plans yet but is seems that the attendees who make it to the summit will be able to meetup with the other top guides from around the world and checkout the Google campus as well. The maps review program has always been a crowdsourced and voluntary program, so this comes as a nice surprise for many.

Luma’s ‘Surround WiFi’ Technology Increases Coverage by Killing Dead Spots with Multiple Routers

It seems that these days routers are becoming cool again, thanks to efforts coming from Google and others. We’ve seen recently the OnHub router being announced and Torch, which is a smart WiFi router that protects your kids online. And today we’re talking about another useful one called Luma.

luma router
Luma is a new router which wants to give you easy-to-use wireless security, monitoring and device connections. Its unique feature is called “surround WiFi” which implies it makes use of multiple routers by increasing coverage throughout your home. Each added device requires no additional setup as the system updates and tunes the signals automatically in order to “always offer peak performance and speed.”
How the router works is pretty much similar to the Sonos WiFi speaker. The router also comes with “enterprise-grade” security and parental controls with device-level customization, so in this direction it’s very useful for parents, as well. The router comes with a smartphone app that allows you to easily control the entire activity happening in your network. You can block unwanted users, connect devices without a password or set website ratings for your children, add timers to control how long your kids stay online and even monitor user browsing.

Each Luma router comes with two dual-band radios on 2.4GHz and 5Ghz bands using 802.11ac Wave 2. By using multiple units, it creates a mesh WiFi network, which brings more speed and kills dead corners. You can see in the video below how the specific ‘surround WiFi’ technology works like.
If you are interested in this device, you will have to pay $249 for three devices ($99 per device) for the next 30 days, then climb to $199 per device and $499 for a three-pack. Pre-orders are already open and shipping will start in early 2016.

YouTube Red, Google’s ad-free video service, launching October 28 for $9.99 per month

YouTube has been rumored to launch a subscription-based, advertisement-free video service for some time now, and it’s looking like that’s finally coming into fruition. Google has just announced YouTube Red, a new video service that will offer completely ad-free videos and more for just $9.99 per month.
Not only will the videos be ad-free in YouTube Red, it will also allow users to save videos and songs to their mobile devices for offline viewing, as well as the ability to keep videos playing in the background when using other applications. The $9.99 monthly fee also includes a free subscription to Google Play Music, which is a steal considering the music service normally costs $9.99 per month on its own. Additionally, Google Play Music subscribers will also get a free subscription to YouTube Red.

YouTube Red is launching on Wednesday, October 28th and will include a free 30-day trial for all users. Google says that early next year, YouTube Red subscribers will get member-only access to new, original shows and movies from popular content creators. You can learn more about the member-only channels by following this link.

Be sure to watch the promotional video attached above, and head to the YouTube link below to learn more about the service. There’s a pretty informative FAQ section at the bottom of the page, detailing all of YouTube Red’s features.

Google Unveils YouTube Red, a Premium Subscription Based Ad-Free Video Service Rivaling Netflix

oogle has unveiled YouTube Red, a Netflix like premium subscription video channel sans the advertisements. The YouTube Red series has already signed up 10 series and will include a music service. YouTube Red will cost $9.99 per month which incidentally matches up with the Netflix standard two-stream HD. That being said, it will be difficult to convince the users to subscribe for YouTube Red, as the video streaming repository has been known to be a place wherein one can watch free videos in barter for advertisements.
Youtube_Red
The premium Youtube subscription not only lets users watch the videos without any ads but also lets them save on phones and tablets. The package also includes a freshly incepted version of the YouTube Music which has been integrated with the Google Play Music, thus allowing users to access multiple services with a single subscription.

YouTube has roped in celebrities like PewDie Pie who is known for his quirky gaming commentary and constructed a series around him. The other series includes Sing ItLazer TeamA Trip to Unicorn IslandUntitles Joey Graceffa project360 Projectfrom MatPat of Game Theory and many more. While the series looks pretty interesting, it might not just be convincing enough for enough people to shell out money.

YouTube Red has to limbo through the fact that users come to YouTube for free videos and people’s mind has been trained to do so for almost a decade. Adding to the woes is the freemium content arrangements, none of the content will be exclusive to YouTube Red and can be watched with ads on the usual YouTube. That being said, even if a teeny tiny bit of YouTube’s 1-Billion subscribers sign up for the service, they will reap the rewards. The multiple revenue streams for similar content is great as an idea but it will take some time to evolve as a mainstream option. To start with,YouTube Red will be available in US only.

Update: Google says any content creator who doesn’t want to be part of YouTube Red will have all his videos removed. So there’s no way for any content creator to let go of this subscription model while staying with ad supported free platform.

Craigslist Advertising - The Biggest Bargain in the World

Any business who wants to sell more of their products or services should look into Craigslist advertising.. No matter if the products are being sold through websites or brick and mortar stores, Craigslist can still be very profitable. Except for job posting and housing posting in some markets, advertising on Craigslist is free.
Because of this there is little monetary risk in placing your advertisements and you can experiment without worrying about the cost. The only thing you'll have to worry about is agreeing to the Craigslist terms of service and following the specific guidelines when posting.
A major reason for advertising with Craigslist along with the free ads is the huge number of potential customers you'll be able to reach. According to the Craigslist fact sheet they get more than 9 billion page views per month and have ten million new images each month. More than 30 million people including more than 25 million in the US alone use Craigslist each month.
At present there are 450 Craigslist sites in all 50 US states, and in over 50 countries. I have to say these kind of figures really support the claim that Craigslist advertising is the biggest bargain in the world.

With mind boggling figures like Craigslist has, you would think any kind of ad you post would be a winner but not so. You still have to have an attractive ad with a perceived good value in a place where people are looking for it. If you don't you won't be successful no matter how many people come to the site. The huge numbers are great but you still need targeted traffic to be successful no matter what you're selling. With as many different sites as they have you can pinpoint your ads to the exact geographical site you want along with the exact category for your product.
Marketers know that a small well targeted audience that is interested in your product will make you more money than a huge audience who is not that interested.
One of the keys to marketing to your target customers on Craigslist is to place your ad in the best location on the overall site. Craigslist has specific sections for different types of business to advertise in. If you feel your ad should in more than one section or area then you need to write another variation of your ad so you don't get flagged.
Even if there is not a section for your business or service you still have some options such as placing the ad in the advertising section for small business. There is a chance that someone doing a search in this area might find it, but a better option, if you can't find a good category to advertise in, is to ask Craigslist to add your category. They might accommodate you if they feel it warrants it. Having your own category to your self for even a little while could turn out to be a real winner for your business.

Advertising on Craigslist is fantastic but spamming is not cool or is it tolerated. Do not under any circumstances run the same ad on more than one category or in more than one location. If you want to run more than one edition of the same ad you must rewrite it so it doesn't appear to be spam to readers or the spam watchers on Craigslist.

Spam may not only cause your potential customers to boycott your ads if they see them all over the place, but you may get all your ads deleted and even possibly be banned from advertising in the future. Play by the rules set forth by Craigslist and you won't find a better advertising bargain anywhere.

SEO a Scam? The Truth About the Industry

I frequent many SEO and Web Marketing forums on a daily basis and every so often there is a debate about the SEO industry and ethics. After being involved in a number of these debates, it has become really obvious that the main problems are the facts that no two SEO companies are alike and there is no unified methodology. It's very hard to make statements about the industry as a whole because it's debatable what exactly 'SEO' is. Mix in the fact that most SEO companies keep their methodology and campaign strategies secret and we have a situation where every company is totally different with very different results.
Fact 1 : There is no unified SEO methodology. SEO is actually defined by wikipedia as a process of improving traffic from SERPs to a site. Of course, HOW they do that is the real question and causes the debates.
Fact 2 : The effectiveness of an SEO campaign depends on the site structure, site content, keywords, methodology used, and how popular the site is. A site cannot just rank for any random keyword. SEO is also not voodoo. It is logic, problem solving, and Web marketing mixed together. If your site provides no value to users, it probably won't rank.
Fact 3 : Some 'SEOs' do search engine optimization and some do search engine manipulation. Of course, it is all marketed as SEO. Unethical optimization provides results at any cost and is always short term (usually ends in a banned domain name). Ethical optimization opens up the site to the search engines and provides long term benefits.

Fact 4 : Most SEO companies get paid whether or not your site gets any rankings. Unfortunately, this is the case with the industry. Most SEO companies implement A, B, and C and move on to the next client. Hopefully, the site ranks. If it doesn't, they always have more clients.
Fact 5 : Most SEO companies use both ethical and unethical inbound linking strategies. To maximize profits, it is very common for SEO companies to buy bulk links from India, links on spam/scraper web sites, or sell large directory submission packages. It is also common for SEO companies to place huge amounts of the contract into inbound linking to make up for the poor quality of the site optimization.
I don't think it is fair to characterize the industry as a whole without figuring out what is wrong with it and how SEO companies can overcome it. So how exactly do we determine what is good and bad about the industry? I have now been involved with the Web for over 10 years and, specifically, with the SEO industry for almost 4 years and I've seen the inner workings of major SEO companies and worked with clients who had been burned by their previous SEO campaigns. Combined with numerous Web postings and forum debates talking about the same basic problems, I've compiled a list of the most common issues.
Problem 1: Responsibility for Results
It's no secret that the vast majority of SEO companies take no responsibility for results. It is a fact that no SEO company can guarantee results (and if they do, they are lying to you). It is also a fact that the client is taking a risk by spending money with an SEO company that basically says 'We'll do what we can'. SEO companies simply guarantee they'll do the work to 'optimize' the site, but without full disclosure of their methodology, what exactly is the client paying for?
No other industry sells a product with no guarantees and no specific list of work that will be completed. Of course, SEO work is basically the sales of information and keeping the specifics of a methodology is important, but the combination of secrecy and no responsibility for results really makes SEO campaigns risky. So, how can an SEO company reduce the risk for the client and provide the best grade of service?
Answer 1: Incentive Based Pricing
The only real way to reduce the financial risk of the client is to share the risk. Through incentive-based pricing, the SEO company can charge a certain percentage of the total contract (say 70%) to cover their intellectual property and time while placing the rest of the contract price (remaining 30%) in incentives for success. Of course, incentives and their percentage of the contract would be totally relative depending on the campaign.
This first step into sharing in the risk provides both reassurance to the client that the company believes in its methodology and places some of the financial burden of the campaign on the SEO company. At the moment, however, very few SEO companies are willing to share in the risk and charge the same price whether the client gets top rankings or no rankings at all (or possibly even lower rankings).
Problem 2: Unethical Optimization
Unfortunately, unethical (or blackhat) optimization is still very prominent on the Web. It's also unfortunate that 'SEO' has been mistakenly confused with 'Blackhat SEO'. This is still the biggest problem for SEO companies. Saying that all SEO companies deal in blackhat optimization is like saying everyone who emails is a spammer. Blackhat optimization is not optimization at all...it is search engine manipulation.
Because there is so much money tied to top rankings, there will always be a market for unethical SEO and search engine spam. Until companies realize what is ethical and unethical and stop supporting those blackhat SEO companies, they will continue to thrive. This makes the industry as a whole look bad and does not reflect the ethics of good SEO companies. Blackhat provides fast, short term results, but is never a good option in the long run.
Answer 2: Ethical Optimization
There is no quick and easy solution to blackhat optimization's stain on the SEO industry. I would suggest that all marketing departments research optimization techniques and educate themselves on what techniques are unethical. No SEO company is going to say they do unethical optimization. It's also not a good idea to immediately trust a company or product based simply on their rankings. Unethical optimization DOES provide rankings...just not for the long run.
It would also be helpful if the major search engines would be more open and accessible to SEO companies. Currently, the major search engines and SEO companies do not deal with each other and have formed a sort of love-hate relationship. Because of this, many ethical SEOs have slowly moved into dark territory. Ethical optimization seeks to make sites more easily accessible to the engines and help to improve the engine's search results.
The problem is that the search engines mainly clump all SEO companies together the same way as uninformed users do: search engine manipulation. This is just not the case. Search engines do not want to reveal what they consider unethical because it would basically be providing a list of holes in their algorithms that blackhat SEOs would be able to manipulate further, but a defined list of 'what not to do' would provide a definitive list for businesses looking for an SEO company.
Basic Rules of Ethical Optimization
Any campaign that does not abide by the following rules is dealing in unethical optimization techniques and should be avoided.
1.) What the user sees and what the search engine sees should be exactly the same. Do not hide anything.
2.) Your keywords (and the resulting optimization) should exactly reflect the content of the page. Keywords should always reflect what your site is about.
3.) Do not build out pages exclusively for search engines. The site should always cater to both audiences (users and search engines). Catering to only users is why optimization is necessary. Catering only to search engines is optimization gone too far into blackhat.
4.) Do not participate in manipulative inbound linking schemes like link farms, bulk links, triangle linking, or any other unethical manipulation of your Google PageRank or link authority. Inbound links should be relevant to the content of your site and you should always know who is linking to you and where your links come from.
Problem 3: Assembly Line / Software SEO
With the growth of the SEO industry has also come the automation of SEO. The absolute first thing any prospective SEO client should know is that all effective SEO campaigns are custom. There is no checklist of items that will work exactly the same on every site. If the SEO company claims there is, then they are not doing full optimization and the campaign is minimal. A good optimization campaign optimizes the site architecture, text content, and code of the site.
Assembly line SEO does not take into consideration the unique needs/design of the site and may even deal in blackhat optimization. SEO software especially should be looked at closely. There are really only two things SEO software could do that would work for any site: doorway pages (showing engines one thing and users a different thing; which is unethical) or a system of pages build exclusively for search engines (often called info or information pages and linked in an out of the way part of the page). Doorway pages are 100% unethical and info pages are deep in the gray area.

Neither of those two methods address the architecture of the site, proper keyword analysis, or effective text content. The following links are examples of automated SEO software freely available on the Web.All links contain 'nofollow' to prevent the sites from getting inbound link credit from our site. These sites are NOT recommended by TreeHouse SEM.
http://doorwaypagemaker.com/ - Doorway page system; UNETHICAL
http://www.doorway-wizard.com/ - Doorway page system; UNETHICAL
Answer 3: Custom Campaign and Assessment
'SEO Software' may be cheap and affordable, but you get what you pay for. Any campaign that is going to slap on additional pages are simply sell you links is NOT an effective SEO campaign. Any SEO effort that simply has you add a few 'optimized' pages to your site is not going to be optimal. If you wanted to convert a street car into a race car, you don't simply add racing strips to it. Don't think that dumping a few pages on your site targeted to some random keywords is the same as a real SEO campaign.
If your SEO company will not sit down and talk about the layout, architecture, and aim of your site, then it is not providing a top-end service. Remember that the vast majority of 'SEO software' either is for building doorway/landing pages or simply providing you with data about your site (data that is already free to everyone on the Web). Good SEO campaigns take into account both the user and the search engines...not one or the other.
An SEO company should have a commanding understanding of user experience and search engine optimization and use these in combination to create a campaign that will provide the best ROI. The end goal should always be leads/sales. Bringing in piles of non-targeted traffic often leads to extremely high turn over rates and very low lead conversion.
Conclusion
Do your research. Find out what you want from an optimization campaign and then ask the right questions. Make sure that the sales representative you talk to knows what they are selling. If they do not, they are definitely not the person to get information from. A lot of SEO companies use hard sale tactics and the reps are less than knowledgeable about what they are selling. Ask the following questions and see what they have to say.
1.) How do you assess keywords? If an SEO company simply optimizes for whatever keywords are sent to them by the client, the SEO campaign starts off on very shaky ground. Keyword analysis should be performed that takes into account the number of searches in all the major search engines and the relative competition for those terms. The site should also be compared to the keywords to see if they support each other.
2.) Do you plan on building out pages specifically to house keywords? Landing pages and doorway pages are not effective long term SEO options. SEO companies like them because they do not have to touch the rest of the site and it's very easy to simply add band aids instead of performing surgery.
3.) Will my SEO campaign also help improve the user experience of the site? Proper architecture and usability goes hand in hand with SEO and helps increase ROI. You should want to bring in new traffic and convert it.
4.) Does my revenue model affect my keyword selection and the optimization as a whole? Any SEO company that does not optimize based on the target audience is NOT providing the most effective campaign. An ecommerce site marketing to comparative shoppers will want to optimize heavily for product names and model numbers. An online magazine wanting to bring in recurring traffic will want to optimize for article topics and specific themes. Local companies will want to optimize for geo-targeted keywords.

5.) I want to optimize my site, but do not want to change any of the existing content or layout...how would you go about this? Any SEO company that says they will simply add on landing pages or hide text is selling blackhat. This goes back to the earlier analogy. You are really saying that you have a car that you want to modify to be very fast, but do not want to modify the engine and the mechanic simply adds racking stripes and charges you full price.

YouTube Promotion

We can use YouTube for watching video clips or even whole movies now. We can also create something called 'Infomercials' and load them onto YouTube. These can be used as a YouTube promotion marketing strategy for your product or service.
But first let's look at how YouTube currently stands in the online world. Recently YouTube, which was bought by Google for $1.65 billion in 2006, was said to be streaming 4 billion online videos every day. In early 2012 this was seen as a 25% increase in the past eight months.
This increase comes at a good time because more and more people are watching video on their televisions and smartphones. Google is pushing this new way of viewing by providing great content.
YouTube figures show that around 60 hours of video is uploaded to the site every minute. That is an incredible statistic, unimaginable a few years ago and one you can exploit with YouTube promotion of your products. YouTube streams around 4 billion videos globally a day, but only around 3 billion of them are actually monetised each week.

Video checklist
It is easy to be sceptical about anything and I understand if you may be wondering does YouTube promotion work? The truth is it does, but you need to create a video that has great content first.
Before creating a video of any kind you need to have some kind of action plan or a video checklist. Do you know what your subject material is? If you intend to speak or narrate then you will need some kind of script at hand, unless you are totally confident of making it up as you go along.
One thing you do not want to happen in your YouTube video promotion is to pause when you don't know what to say next or even mumble your way through the whole production.
Plan out what you intend to say and rehearse it prior to actually recording. Try to speak clearly and confidently. You want to come across as someone knowledgeable about the subject material you are conveying.
Shoot a few rehearsal videos and watch it back. Are you happy with your vocal tone and clarity? Is there any background noise? You don't want noise from traffic or worse still, the camera motor. If you can get a second opinion then do that before shooting the actual video.
Creating the video
Now it is time to get going on your YouTube video promotion work and get your video camera ready. for the actual filming. If you do not have one of these then does your phone take good video?
If you want to show yourself to viewers then you will need a video camera of some kind. Look at all your options and test out all of them. You may find your humble phone gives you the results you need. As you make more sales you can invest in better equipment.
If you do not have a video camera of any kind for YouTube promotion then all you would need to do is incorporate photos of the product within the video itself. Create a slideshow using PowerPoint or a similar tool, bring the photos into it and then narrate your text. Talk about any benefits and features that the product has.
You will find examples of infomercials on the web. If you need to know how content should look then do a quick Google search for infomercials. Also search for video podcasts.
Add a title in your infomercials and start off with a cheerful greeting. A good intro is important in your YouTube promotion strategy as this is what will hook the viewer in initially.
Try to end the video well also. You need to thank people for taking the time to watch your video. Add a call to action and provide your website link so that people know how to contact you. Packages such as Windows Movie Maker are free and can create some nice titles and animation for your video.
Of course the most important part of the video is the actual body. This is where you will engage the viewer and keep them watching. You have to make it good otherwise the viewer may click elsewhere.
Try not to sound boring in the video and keep the length to two minutes. Engage the viewer and speak with a clear voice at all times. Bu doing this you will be well on your way to having a YouTube promotion video to be proud of.
If someone likes your video they could turn into a customer. You want people to click back to your website to see what products or services you can offer them.
Ensure that you talk about what your product can do for them and how it is going to solve their pressing problems.
You can use Infomercials nicely for tutorial videos also. Why not put them onto your blog and use YouTube promotion to emphasise what people are going to gain from your tutorials. Make a quick clip of your tutorial and insert your website link to tempt them.
For anyone looking for a job, you will find creating an infomercial that promotes you is going to be very beneficial. Mention your skills, experience and qualifications. What this is in effect is, is a video resume and you can also state what kind of job you would like. The potential here for YouTube promotion is enormous.
YouTube marketing
When you are happy with the final video it is time to put it somewhere where people can access it. The best place in my opinion is YouTube for two reasons.
Firstly because it gets billions of viewers globally each day, it can only be of benefit to you. Imagine the amount of YouTube traffic you could be getting as a result of many people watching your video. This represents great exposure for your product, service or business.
Secondly, you want to keep YouTube promotion costs low, or as low as you can. So what is the YouTube promotion cost you may be asking yourself? The great thing about YouTube is that it is free to upload and host your video. Yes the beauty is that your videos are getting free YouTube promotion and exposure.
If you are intending to add more than one video onto YouTube then it is worth setting up your own channel. This will allow you to centralise your videos and brand yourself. You can customise the look of your channel if you so wish to help with any YouTube promotion, although this is not necessary.

Before you upload your video ensure that the name you give to the video file has your chosen keyword somewhere in it. Also add your keyword to the title and description once it is uploaded. This helps to optimise the video for the search engines and enables people to find it.
Conclusion

Your business, whether large or small, needs YouTube promotion as part of its marketing strategy. The more people that watch your video the more likely you are to make sales. Add video to your marketing today and see how it can benefit you.
